A nationally-recognized public affairs, community relations and emergency communication specialist, Michael Walter has brought his skills in media relations, crisis communications, emergency warning information technology, government relations, social media and strategic community relations and investment to government and public sector companies for over fifteen years.
Michael's academic training in Electronic Media (BA, Northern Arizona University), Public Service and Administration (MPSA, Bush School of Government, Texas A&M University), combined with his years of government and private sector experience, comes together to create a highly-sought-after set of skills that finds unique, creative solutions to difficult communication and stakeholder.
As Public Information Officer for the City of Houston Office of Emergency Management, he led the City's public information response to five federally declared disasters, including Hurricane Harvey, as well as various high-profile special events, including the the NCAA Final Four, NBA All-Star Game, and Super Bowl 51.
He has previously worked for a Fortune 50 refining, midstream and marketing company, representing their interests in diverse fence line communities; leveraging community relations, corporate giving, and relationship building to boost the company's presence in a highly-visible, positive way.
He has also supported the corporate communications efforts of a large independent oil and gas exploration and production company, specializing in media relations, crisis communications, aviation and maritime communication.
